Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome transformations echo through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a hidden sect.
The adventure centers on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Changes
The preview highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the quest will acquire an special katana in addition to numerous items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This release also brings the game's newest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
